“Lutenitsa Festival” – Manole village, September 9, 2023 at 11 a.m.

“Lutenitsa Festival” will be held on September 9 at 11 a.m. at Kulturno

Maltepe Information Center – Manole village.

In recent decades, there has been an active attitude towards local cultural

resources, including the process of reinventing traditional products. The researchers

note the trend towards adopting foods prepared using old recipes and technologies

food products as a guarantor of quality and environmental friendliness. The opinion of

traditional foods as “real”, extremely tasty and healthy. Knowledge about

their production is becoming increasingly valued because it also reveals people’s connection with

ancestors and past experiences. Local food becomes a symbol of cultural heritage,

valorizes the traditions of the territorial community and establishes a connection between generations.

Fortunately, in our geographical latitudes, on the territory of the Maritsa Municipality, we are from

“the right side of the pepper”“, and from it comes one of the most iconic canned goods –

chutney.

Today it is a bargaining chip for nostalgia, for the difference between “home” and “from”

the store”, for the preservation of traditions. It seems to us as if it has been around for a long time and

has always been a part of the autumn, winter and even spring Bulgarian table. In fact

Chutney in its current form, suitable for long-term storage in jars, is a new product,

and the ultimate recipe “peppers and tomatoes, eggplant and carrots as desired” has suffered a lot

changes and is extremely interesting for the overall presentation of the Municipality region

“Maritsa”.

The “Lyutenitsa Festival” will be held for the first time on the territory of

Maritsa Municipality in the village of Manole on September 9, 2023 and will become a tradition for

the residents of the municipality.

An exhibition of local homemade products will be held as part of the event.

products. A competition will be held for the most delicious homemade lyutenitsa from the villages of the municipality, for

to try their hand at making grandma’s favorite lyutenitsa. Fans of the real

tastes, residents and guests of Maritsa Municipality will be able to enjoy various

traditional foods and artistic products from the region, as well as to understand how it is made

chutney and local dishes.

The event is being held as part of the “Lutenitsa Festival” project, funded by

under the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, co-financed by the European

Agricultural Fund for Rural Development under the Project Selection Procedure

proposals under sub-measure 19.2 “Implementation of operations within the framework of strategies for

“Community-led local development” of Measure 19 “Community-led local development” with a contract

for grant BG06RDNP001-19.019-S2-12.01.2022 with State Fund

“Agriculture” .

The aim of the project is to preserve and develop local identity based on living

intangible cultural heritage of the territory, its valorization and contribution to

economic development, through its integration into tourism activities and products.

“The project aims to collect information on gastronomic technologies, recipes

and an attempt to create a true grandmother’s winter dish based on local knowledge,

traditions and culinary taste. The important thing in this case is that local vegetables and

fruits, which will show the experience of local producers of quality products. In

Different generations will participate in the lutenitsa festival, which will also allow for live broadcasts.

of the traditional knowledge and skills of young people from the municipality and the guests of the event.

The recipe book will preserve the best examples of food as a cultural heritage. This

will allow more people to join the cultural traditions of the population of Maritsa Municipality – shared the Mayor of Maritsa Municipality – Dimitar Ivanov.

We invite all residents and guests of Maritsa Municipality to share the experience

“Lutenitsa Festival” on September 9 at 11 a.m. at the Maltepe Cultural Center in the village of Manole.
